About Me
Music is a very important part of my life. I've always felt a connection to it, and it is imprinted in me. This led me to pursue my interest further, picking up my first guitar back in middle school, and I've never looked back.
I never took consistent formal lessons, but instead just jumped right into it, playing along and soaking up any information from the plethora of talented people I've gotten to share rehearsals with throughout my life. My fondest memories of my youth are jamming with my school buddies in my best friend's garage and going to local shows just about every possible chance we could! For the amount of time I've been playing, I should be way better than I am! But I consider myself good enough to be a dangerous rhythm guitarist and bass player. I most recently got to share my passion for music in Madison area original bands The American Dead and Whisky Pig. The most recent project I'm fortunate to be part of is the Misfits tribute band, The Marilyns.
With my strong interest in music and playing in bands most of my life, live sound and recording were natural paths to pursue. I went to school for Music and Recording Technology and graduated at the top of my class from the Madison Media Institute. Before I even graduated MMI, I got to spend some time and get a strong start becoming a minority partner at Master Blaster Studios under local legends Travis Kasperbauer and Jesse Stewart. I got to work with and learn from them on a plethora of projects from other local legends.
When Travis was given an incredible opportunity to further his career and relocated to California, Master Blaster had to unfortunately dissolve, and I let "everyday life" keep me from pursuing a full-time career. But I have been lucky enough to continue recording on the side since the early 2000s. Since music production is part of my DNA, I kept going, founding Bullhound Studio in the basement of my house. I was able to consistently record there on and off on the weekends over the years, but once my first child was born, the recording side of things crawled to a halt. Managing band studio sessions occupying the same space as my child just wasn't very conducive. That's when I first started dabbling with the mobile recording idea. I've done a few mobile projects here and there, but with the birth of my second child and relocating from Madison to Mount Horeb, pursuing recording sessions also came to a halt. Now that my kids are a little bit older, I've decided to get back on the horse, riding back into action with Bullhound Productions LLC.
